A successful entrepreneur, educational advocate, community coach, family man and wine aficionado.  John built his company, J.M.R. Electric Ltd. into one of Ontario’s largest electrical and mechanical contracting businesses through dedication and hard work. John is delighted to pursue a new family venture in winemaking.

For every successful entrepreneur, there is a strong backbone that binds business to family.   This is Sue Ann. Sue Ann started her career with John in their fledgling business. As their contracting business flourished, Sue Ann earned a diploma in Interior Design.  She later opened a floral and design business, where she made a name for herself designing homes, corporate events, and weddings. Her inspiration within this business venture has led her to head the design team at Dark Horse Estate Winery.

Ashley brings enviable knowledge from the vineyard to production, with a background in Biotechnology and Health & Safety.  She interned at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Southern Crop Protection Agency under Dr. Lining Tian and completed the Winemaking Certificate Program at Niagara College.

An Ottawa native, Craig over the years after meeting his wife Ashley, began a new journey in the field of construction.  This journey eventually led him to a teaching position at Fanshawe College. In his spare time, Craig enjoys the fruit and labour of farming. His passion & dedication steered him to pursue a versatile position at Dark Horse Estate Winery, where his extensive skill sets and knowledge are utilized.


Marc Pistor

Winemaker

Marc has taken his passion for winemaking from the classroom to the vineyard. He holds a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and an honours degree in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University.  Marc has worked at some of the most successful wineries in the Niagara Region.
